Where to play golf: Hong Kong Island
Let’s break this down into 3 sections; Courses, Simulators & Driving Ranges. There’s actually a lot of places you can play golf on Hong Kong Island, it just depends on what you’re looking for.
Playing golf at courses on HK Island is an unforgettable experience! From the lush greenery to the stunning views, you'll be sure to have a great time out on the course. Not only is the landscape beautiful, but the courses themselves are top-notch and offer a variety of challenges for all levels of golfers.
The two courses are, HKGC Deep Water Bay & Shek O Country Club. You may struggle to get on the latter as it is known to be for members only & their guests but the former, Deep Water Bay allows visitors to play during weekdays. You can find out more information about playing at HKGC Deep Water Bay here.
The mild climate makes it ideal for golfing year-round a part from typhoon season, which is where the simulators and driving ranges come into play.
Golf simulators are becoming increasingly popular in Hong Kong, offering golfers the opportunity to play their favourite sport year-round in a comfortable and convenient environment.
First-off, lets look at the different types of golf simulators available in Hong Kong. We have TrackMan, Foresight, Uneekor & more. Which means if you have a preference you can find it.
The simulators come at different experiences and price points. Golf Sim HK offer a VIP private room in Wong Chuk Hang for around $300p/hour or you can enjoy a more public setting at 7Iron in Tai Koo, where they offer multiple bays, putting facilities and at a very competitive $180p/hour.
If you’re looking for simulators in Central & Western or Wan Chai district there are still many to go at, which you can find out more information here.
Now the more traditional way to practice, driving ranges. If you’re a member or playing at the previously mentioned golf courses, you can use their practice facilities too. Deep Water Bay states on their website that you can; Practice day or night, outdoors and in. Our covered outdoor range features 3 bays for daytime practice and coaching lessons, while our floodlit 15-bay range is open on Monday to Friday evenings after course closing time.
However, if you’re just wanting a quick knock at the range, SCAA is one of the easiest ways to do so. It offers a 2-storey golf driving range with 46 bays and 1 bunker. You have to sign up as a member for the year, which is a one time fee of about $200. Then its around $60 for half hour with unlimited balls.
If you live in the Eastern district, 7Iron is on your doorstep but as far as driving ranges go; Island East Sports Centre, Sai Wan Ho is as good as it gets. There are 3 indoor golf driving bays on the 4th floor of the centre. Not the most glamorous but if you’re just wanting a quick and easy knock, it will tick the box and at about $20p/hour you can’t grumble.
So, whether you are looking to take a break from the bustling city life, practice to get rid of those new bad habits or just have a fun day out with friends, playing golf on Hong Kong Island has never been easier for all budgets and locations.
