Swing into Inspiration: Po Leung Kuk and SSEF Bring Students Face-to-Face with Golf Pros

(Hong Kong, March 24, 2025) - In a remarkable initiative to inspire youth engagement in sports, Po Leung Kuk (PLK) and the Spin Sports Education Fund (SSEF) successfully co-hosted the "Sharing the Passion of Golf: Meet the Pros" event today at The Spin Club in Wong Chuk Hang. The event aimed to spark students' interest in golf while promoting the sport's core values of discipline, focus, and teamwork.

The day featured an engaging lineup of activities that captivated young participants. A standout moment was the panel discussion with three celebrated professional golfers—Ye Wocheng, Matthew Cheung, and Isaac Lam—who shared their career journeys and insights into the sport’s enduring appeal. Their stories resonated deeply with students, offering powerful lessons on perseverance, hard work, and overcoming challenges.

Attendees also had the chance to immerse themselves in hands-on experiences across three interactive zones: the *Golf Bay*, where they observed techniques; the *Putting Zone*, which highlighted precision; and the *Fitness Zone*, showcasing the physical demands of golf. A lively Q&A session allowed students to engage directly with the pros, gaining invaluable advice and inspiration.

Ms. Loretta Lam, Principal Education Secretary (Secondary and Special Education) of PLK, expressed her pride in the collaboration, stating, “This event has allowed students to experience the charm of golf and understand its broader life lessons.” Mr. Lau, Principal Education Secretary (Primary) of PLK, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of connecting students with role models who exemplify resilience and dedication.

A representative from SSEF praised the partnership, noting that it aligns seamlessly with their mission to inspire the younger generation through sportsmanship. The professional golfers involved also shared their enthusiasm. Ye Wocheng remarked, “I hope this event inspires more young people to fall in love with golf,” while Matthew Cheung reflected on how the sport has taught him to face challenges and continuously improve.

With 14 schools participating, each sending five students and one teacher, the event fostered an intimate atmosphere ideal for meaningful interactions. Participants left not only with newfound knowledge but also a deeper appreciation for the transformative potential of golf.
