How to Join a Club or Society

Unfortunately, becoming a member at one of Hong Kong's four prestigious golf clubs is probably way out of reach for most. However, if you're one of the lucky few, who can afford the second hand membership prices, exorbitant joining fees (well into the millions), or the year long waiting lists, then hopefully we have made life a little easier for you.

We will break down each golf club below; its individual and corporate joining fees, its waiting list & roughly how much second hand memberships are currently going for.

Memberships

  • Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club is a private golf and yacht club in Hong Kong. It has 18 hole golf course, marinas and dining facilities. The golf course has a signature hole – Hole 3, which has been selected as one of the “500 Best Holes in the World”.

    Facilities: Parking Lot, Gym, Children's Playground, Coffee Shop, Squash Court, Multi-Purpose Meeting Hall, Sauna & Steam Room, Spa, Swimming Pool, Tennis Court, Badminton, Bars & Lounges, Dining Room, Golf Courses.

    Individual Joining Fee: HK$4,000,000

    Corporate Joining Fee: HK$6,000,000

    Waiting List: 3 Years

    Second Hand Fee: HK$10,000,000

  • Hong Kong Golf Club has access to two locations, one being the original club that stands on the south side of the strikingly beautiful Deep Water Bay on a large piece of prime real estate, boasting impressive 9-hole par 56 courses, surrounded by stunning views. The other is in Fanling, New Territories and features three 18-hole courses.

    Facilities: Bar & Lounge, Car Park, Function Room, Mahjong Room, Golf Driving Range, Gymnasium, Restaurant, Shop, Snooker, Swimming, Pool, Tennis Court.

    Individual Joining Fee: N/A

    Corporate Joining Fee: HK$16,000,000

    Waiting List: 10-20 Years

    Second Hand Fee: HK$13,500,000

  • Discovery Bay Golf Club is situated on a mountain above the upscale community of Discovery Bay on Lantau Island. It offers a unique golfing experience within easy reach of the city. The club has three 9-hole-courses; Diamond, Jade and Ruby courses.

    Facilities: Bar & Lounge, Children Play Area, Function Room, Golf, Restaurants, Squash Court, Swimming Pool.

    Individual Joining Fee: HK$4,000,000

    Corporate Joining Fee: HK$5,000,000

    Waiting List: -

    Second Hand Fee: HK$3,700,000

  • To join you must be first recommended by a Shek O villa owner.

Societies

Joining a society is much easier than a golf club, luckily! We aren't able to get the ins and outs of each society but HKGA have done an amazing job of listing over 100 golf societies in Hong Kong on their website. It can be found here. You can find a society that sounds like what you're looking for and give the contact person an email. Some may be more of an interest to you than others, either locations or specific companies & nationalities.
