Where to play golf: Kowloon

PGA Development Center - Waterfall

There’s no courses in the densely packed region of Kowloon, so indoor and outdoor practice facilities are your only options.

This might not be the worst as we currently head in Hong Kong’s wet season. With around 20 days of rain out of 30 in June and 15-17 days of rain per month either side (May, July & August) the simulators and driving ranges come into play.

Golf simulators are becoming increasingly popular in Hong Kong, offering golfers the opportunity to play their favourite sport year-round in a comfortable and convenient environment.

First-off, lets look at the different types of golf simulators available in Hong Kong. We have TrackMan, Foresight, Uneekor & more. Which means if you have a preference you can find it.

Hi Tee - Diamond Hill

The simulators come at different experiences and price points. Hi Tee offer everything from public & private bays to even bunker practice in Diamond Hill. Golfzon in Lai Chi Kok is a golf simulation centre that offers a variety of virtual golf courses, practice areas, and competitions with advanced technology. You can enjoy playing golf in their public or private bays and they even have some food and all you can drink packages.

Golfstation in Cheung Sha Wan has multiple bays and is located 2 mins from Lai Chi Kok MTR. It’s open from 9am - 11pm and is probably the cheapest simulator in HK ($100 p/hour - no membership).

If we go to the other side of Kowloon, we will find the newly opened Smash Factor in Kwun Tong. They’ve just soft launched their two open bays and 3 private rooms, which they are taking bookings through WhatsApp. You can visit their website here to find out more.

Smash Factor - Kwun Tong

If we stay in Kwun Tong we can find Hosel Rocket a golf simulator and workshop where they use the data from the simulators to build the perfect clubs for you.

Lastly, we have Golf Core - again in Kwun Tong but a little less known and more focussed on the tuition side of things.

Now the more traditional way to practice, driving ranges. If you’re a member or fortunate enough to be a member of one of Hong Kong’s golf courses, you can use their practice facilities. However, if you’re just wanting a quick knock at the range, PGA Development Centre - Waterfall is the obvious choice in Olympic, Kowloon. With 31 premium bays with Toptracer, 14 standard bays, private rooms, tuition, practice greens - it really has it all and a great way to spend the day.

The only other option for an outdoor driving range in Kowloon is Wo Yi Hop Road, Kwai Hing. This is a public LCSD facility and has 15 driving bays with a maximum distance of 60 yards. So you can only take the little ones, or practice your short game. Not ideal, but at only $48 p/hour and unlimited balls - you still get your moneys worth.

So, whether you are looking to take a break from the bustling city life, practice to get rid of those new bad habits or just have a fun day out with friends, playing golf in Kowloon has never been easier for all budgets and locations.
