Niemann Dominates in Singapore, Fireballs GC Triumphs Again

Joaquin Niemann of Torque GC delivered a commanding performance to claim his second individual victory in the last three tournaments at LIV Golf Singapore. The young Chilean shot a bogey-free 6-under 65, securing a five-shot lead and moving to the top of the Individual Champion points standings. This win not only cements his status as a dominant force in LIV Golf but also positions him well for a potential U.S. Open exemption.

“Today was one of those days,” said Niemann, reflecting on his stellar performance. “Everything went my way.” His exceptional play overshadowed former world number one Dustin Johnson, who struggled with a 2-over 73, finishing tied for fifth at 9 under. Brooks Koepka, captain of Smash GC, mounted a valiant effort, matching Niemann’s 65 to secure solo second place at 12 under, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Chilean star.

Niemann entered the final round tied with Johnson, yet any hopes of a duel quickly evaporated as Niemann birdied his opening hole and added four more birdies during a five-hole stretch between holes No. 4-8. Meanwhile, Johnson suffered two bogeys on his first nine holes and two more after the turn.

As Niemann continues to shine individually, the Fireballs GC, captained by Sergio Garcia, showcased remarkable teamwork to clinch their third consecutive team title. Despite Garcia battling illness throughout the week, his teammates—David Puig, Luis Masaveu, and Abraham Ancer—stepped up magnificently, shooting a collective 10-under on Sunday. They overcame an eight-shot deficit at the start of the final round to triumph by three shots.

“This week was tough because I've been sick all week,” admitted Garcia. “To see the performance that my teammates put in to be able to get this win was pretty impressive.”

Puig’s impressive 5-under 66 was complemented by Masaveu’s 68 and Ancer’s 69. For Puig, this victory marked his eighth overall LIV Golf team win, surpassing other players in the league's history. Known for his exceptional team spirit, Puig expressed his love for team golf: “I think I'm a good team player. I like to be surrounded by a great group of guys.”

The Fireballs GC will look to extend their winning streak at the upcoming LIV Golf Miami event in April, aiming to match the record set by 4Aces GC in 2022. Jon Rahm continued to make headlines by breaking the record for consecutive rounds under par, achieving his 21st such round with a solid 4-under 67.

Additionally, Ben Campbell of RangeGoats GC delivered a commendable solo third-place finish at 11 under, boosting his position in the points standings. For Campbell, this result is pivotal as he aims to secure a top-24 Lock Zone spot that ensures participation in the 2026 LIV Golf League.

As LIV Golf continues to captivate audiences worldwide, standout performances from Niemann and the Fireballs GC set the stage for future competitions, highlighting both individual brilliance and team synergy.
