Matthew Cheung Secures His Place in The DP World Tour Final Qualifying Stage

Hong Kong's rising golf star, Matthew Cheung, has secured his place in the Final Qualifying Stage after an impressive showing at the Fortanals Golf Club in Girona, Spain. With consistent rounds of 68, 63, 68, and 69, Matthew finished tied for 3rd place at 16-under par, following on from his First Stage win in Belgium, earning his spot in the next phase of the competition.

The Final Qualifying Stage, scheduled at the stunning Infinitum Golf in Tarragona, Spain from November 8th to 13th, marks a crucial juncture in Matthew's golfing career. This stage, comprising of 108 holes over 6 rounds, will decide which players secure Conditional Membership of The DP World Tour and full exemption on the Challenge Tour for the upcoming 2025 season.

For Matthew, this opportunity signifies a significant stride towards his aspiration of competing at the highest echelons of professional golf. By advancing to the Final Stage, he now has a shot at clinching one of the coveted top 20 spots that guarantee access to the DP World Tour and Challenge Tour. Previously, this threshold included the top 25 players and ties. Typically, the top Q School qualifiers, receive an average of 27 tournament starts, while the 25th qualifier is granted around 18 starts throughout the season.

Even those players who manage to make the 72-hole cut but fall outside the Top 20 will earn a membership status, albeit of a lower tier, on both the DP World Tour and the Challenge Tour.

For players who miss the cut, there remains the opportunity to qualify for membership on the Challenge Tour, providing a pathway for continued growth and development in the competitive world of professional golf.

These cards not only grant entry to prestigious tournaments but also cement a player's standing in the fiercely competitive world of professional golf.

As Matthew embarks on the Final Qualifying Stage, we extend our best wishes and unwavering support for his journey ahead.
