ESTABLISHED STARS AND NEW FACES HOPE TO QUALIFY FOR THE 63RD HONG KONG OPEN

Some familiar faces and a few new kids on the block will look to ignite their LINK Hong Kong Open dreams from October 3-4 as the Qualifying Tournament for the 63rd edition of the city’s famed tournament takes to the Hong Kong Golf Club’s New Course.

‘The Voice of Asian Golf’ Dominique Boulet will be giving his dulcet tones a rest for two days has he takes another crack at playing a tournament at which he famously finished fourth in 1996 – still the best-ever finish at the Open by a Hong Kong golfer.

He will be joined by Hong Kong Golf Club pro Brian O’Donovan, who so memorably made the cut at the 2023 Hong Kong Open – when there wasn’t a dry eye on course such was the support he had all week.

Also representing the Hong Kong Golf Club in its 135th anniversary year is trainee pro Michael Regan Wong, who qualified for the Macao Open last week.

Joining them this week will be some of the rising stars of Hong Kong golf, including local amateurs Michael Yeun, fresh from his second-consecutive Hong Kong Junior Open Championship, Andrew Chan and Anthony Fang, all part of the Hong Kong, China set-up.

“The Qualifying Tournament presents a great opportunity for young players, and some who have been around awhile, to be a part of this historic tournament and to play alongside some of the greats of the game,” said Mr Andy Kwok, Captain of the Hong Kong Golf Club.

Local hero Taichi Kho is among those stars to have already signed on to this year’s 63rd staging of the LINK Hong Kong Open – to be staged at the Hong Kong Golf Club from 21-24 November.

He’ll be joined by England’s 2015 winner – and 2013 US Open winner – Justin Rose, alongside rising South Korean sensation Tom Kim and reigning champion Ben Campbell of New Zealand.

For the second year in a row, the LINK Hong Kong Open is part of The International Series, the set of 10 elevated events on the Asian Tour calendar that form a pathway to the LIV Golf League over the course of the season. Events on The International Series also provide opportunity for local talent to compete in elite fields at each of its 10 destinations.
